About us

Why gift boxes? The need for me to work with beautiful products was always part of the plan - who doesn't like to surround themselves with gorgeous products all day?! And I wanted a modern take on the traditional gift hamper and gift basket - one where cellophane was banished and the products were ones that would not be found at the local supermarket! The plan evolved into wanting to support businesses who were ethical and who put their values into their products - vegan, cruelty free, organic, fair trade and fresh local produce are some of the examples you will see in our gift box collections - the people we choose to work with reflect the same desire we have - to produce the best products, ethically.  We make it a priority to use New Zealand made products where possible because we also love supporting our fellow entrepreneurs. One of the other parts of my plan was to work with kind people :) and that part has been easy.

Part of the Boxsmith dream has been the desire to give back and so we have chosen to support Make A Wish with 5% of each gift box donated to them (to a maximum of $5 per box). My son is a 'Make A Wish kid' (that's him with Roman Atwood in the photo on his Make A Wish Trip). The wish was certainly a dream come true, but what Make A Wish does is bigger than that.  It gives a sense of community, hope and support.  And they are a really decent bunch of people - mostly volunteers who work so hard to make the seemingly impossible possible.

I hope you enjoy the gift boxes as much as I have creating them!  Email me and tell me what you would like to see in them or if you have a collab idea at hello@boxsmith.co.nz
